The employment rate displays the proportion of employed adults in the working age. The employment rate increased significantly in Sweden during the 1960s and 1970s, when many women entered the labour market and closed much of the gap to men. In more recent years the employment rate fell temporarily during the financial crisis of 2008-2009. It has, however, since then, recovered to even higher levels than we saw prior to the crisis.
